Article: The Fire Has NO Power

The Fire Has NO Power

Fires are known for destruction. Each year we hear about the California wildfires. This year the Canadian wildfires were so significant they impacted air quality all across the US. And today we are learning of the horrific tragedies caused by the wildfires in Hawaii.  Some of us have survived home fires that destroyed the house and everything inside, yet God spared our lives. Whether from watching the news or personal experience, we know that fires are destructive and deadly.  Even in situations where the fire was caught it time, often what the flames did not destroy the smoke did.

As a believer in Christ we will face trials in life that feel like a burning fire determined to kill us and destroy everything in our lives. 1 Peter 4:2  reads Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you. I believe the bible relates trials to fire to demonstrate their severity. Trials are after everything you have - most importantly your faith. It is disguised as financial problems, health problems and relationship issues, but the real attack is on your faith.

In the bible there is a well known story of 3 men who were put into a fire for not obeying King Nebuchadnezzar. The King decreed that everyone must worship a golden image and they refused. Their faith in God was so strong they told the King no because they knew their God would deliver them. The king was so angered he sentenced them to death by ordering them to be bound up then placed in a furnace. He went as far as having the furnace heated seven times hotter than usual to ensure they were killed. But instead of finding dead men, he found them loose, walking around in the fire along with a fourth man who’s form was like the Son of God.

And the princes, governors, and captains, and the king's counselors, being gathered together, saw these men, upon whose bodies the fire had no power…I don’t want this to get lost - fires have power. I’ll say it again - they are destructive and deadly BUT God! When we use our faith and invite God to reign sovereign in the midst of our trials like Shadrack, Meshach, and Abednego, no deadly force can stand a chance. Think of it like an immunity. What the devil sent to destroy you won't. It has NO POWER! All power belongs to God - every demonic force is subject to His command. Your confidence must remain in God, not the severity of your situation.

Don't quit in the fire. Keep worshiping in the fire. Hold on to your faith in the fire. Don't give up hope in the fire. God is with you and he will bring you through. Not only will God bring you through the fire, but like Shadrack, Meshach, and Abednego, you will come through with not so much as a hair on your head being touched and you certainly won't smell like smoke. There will be no residue of what you have been through because the fire has no power! And like King Nebeuchadnezzar, those who plotted to destroy you will be a witness to the fact that God is with you. Only a true and living God can deliver you out of a fire with no harm or evidence that you went in.
